Our Materials

We founded Chicmill on the idea that making fine jewelry does not have to come at the expense of our values, our communities, or our world. We select the most eco-friendly and long-lasting materials available to us, and work with some of what we believe are the best artisans in the world.

    Precious Metals

18k Gold Plated

Most of our jewelry are made with a high-quality and enduring material known as Gold Plated Titanium.

Titanium is a hard mineral that makes our pieces suitable for everyday wear and for a long time. In addition, the material is safe for sensitive skins by being zinc-free and nickel free.

Most people find that they last from a year to ten years with proper care. Our material is tarnish resistant and won't leave green marks on your skin.

Care

Clean the plated jewelry using warm water and some drops of mild detergent soap. Buff gently with a clean cloth and store your pieces in a safe, dry place when not worn.

Sterling Silver

925 Sterling Silver is an alloy made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. We plate our silver jewelry in rhodium for extra shine and durability. Rhodium is one of the costliest precious metals due to its rarity.

Care

Remove your jewelry before exercising, washing your hands or showering. Always apply perfumes, creams and hair care products before wearing. To clean, polish gently with a silver cloth. Store in a safe, dry place when not worn.

    Cubic Zirconia and Gemstones

Cubic Zirconia

Cubic zirconia (also known as CZ) is a synthetic crystalline substance used as an alternative to diamonds. Zirconia can be applied to jewelry without the need for adhesives, making it extremely durable and ideal for everyday wear.

Chicmill zirconia is created using only the highest quality raw materials. Not only does cz look identical to a diamond, but it is also comparable with its strength and durability characteristics.

Care

Clean cubic zirconia rings and jewelry with warm, soapy water and a soft cosmetic brush. Make sure to dry cz stones fully to keep their brilliance and shine. Store in a safe, dry place when not worn. Also, keep jewelry separated to prevent scratching.

    Freshwater Pearls

Freshwater Pearls

We carefully select cultured pearls from oysters and freshwater mussels. Pearls are sensitive in nature, so avoid chemicals or excessive temperatures.

Care

Pearls should be the last thing you put on before going out and the first thing you take off when you come home. For routine care, wipe culture pearls with a soft, clean cloth after each wear. Avoid direct contact with chemicals found in perfume or other cosmetics. Store individually in a safe, dry place when not worn.
